From change for soda to petty cash, everyone keeps some money at the office. These tips will help you keep cash safe when you are working 9-5.
How to Keep Cash Safe at the Office
Hide the Coins
Need a special place to stash your coins for the vending machine? Try hiding your change in an empty pain killer bottle. Your co-workers will think you are so stressed about doing a good job that you’re giving yourself migraines, when in reality, you are treating yourself to unlimited soda and sweets.
It’s always a good idea to have a bit of emergency cash on hand for those surprise team lunches or for when a co-worker’s sweet little daughter comes by with Girl Scout cookies. There are a couple of ways you can stash your cash. Tape an envelope under a desk drawer or behind the clock. You could also roll up those dollar bills and stick them inside a pen, or even have a random file folder to hold your extra cash. Just don’t let anyone see your hiding place when you pull out your wad of cash.
Lock it Up
If you manage an office that needs to keep petty cash on hand, then safety becomes a much bigger issue. Try to limit the visibility of the cash in the office as much as possible. No one needs to see you counting a wad of cash. It’s also a good idea to keep the cash locked up. Whether you use a cash lock box or a safe, you will feel much more secure with your cash under lock and key.
