Employee Appreciation Day falls on the first Friday in March. But you don’t need a special day to show your appreciation for your employees! You can do that any day of the week. Here are a few ways you can let your employees know how much you value them, without spending a ton of money!
Employee Appreciation Day
Say Thank You
Everyone loves to hear that they’ve done a good job. When handing out praise, be specific and let your employee know that you notice and value what they do.
Did Someone Say Cake?
Let’s face it…we all like to eat. Show your employees some appreciation by taking them out to lunch, bringing in bagels or donuts, or hosting a mid afternoon snack break complete with cake and ice cream.
Just in case anyone – ahem, my boss – is wondering… I like chocolate cake!
Create a Meeting Free Day
While meetings are a necessary evil, it’s okay to spend one day in a meeting free zone.
Let your employees know they have the day to get anything done on their to-do list without the need to meet and discuss things ad nauseum.
Relaxation is the Name of the Game
Work can definitely be stressful at times. So why not include a bit of relaxation into the day. You could bring a masseuse to give 15 minute massages. Or you could allow some employees to come in an hour late and let others leave an hour early. Simply giving your employees that little bit of extra time can relieve their stress levels.
Or, you could, you know have a bubble wrap popping party. That’s always fun too!
Give the Gift of Office Supplies
I’m sure your employees would love a goodie bag filled with brand new office supplies!
Freshly sharpened pencils, a new pen, a fancy stapler, and a stack of sticky notes…what more could an office supply addict ask for? You can make sure everyone gets their preferred color of supplies to personalize the goodie bag just for them. Psst… this can also help increase their productivity. Sounds like the perfect gift to me!
