Take your coffee break, gather with your coworkers around the water cooler, or just take five while you enjoy today’s Talking with Tina topic. The day after St. Patrick’s Day is officially Awkward Moments Day. Which got me to thinking about my awkward moments at work, and I have had a few (hugging the coffee pot every morning might be one of them). Which makes me the poster girl for celebrating Awkward Moments Day. Celebrate with me, will you?
Awkward Moments at Work
Sometimes my accomplishments at work make me a bit giddy. Giddy enough to bust a move in between the cubicles. Some might say that my dance moves are awkward, at least that’s what the looks on my co-workers’ faces say. I say I’m a master dancing queen. On second thought, this one isn’t an awkward moment at all.
I adore my sticky note purse dispenser. Sometimes I carry it around the office like a real purse, if only to pretend I’m a giant with an affinity for teeny tiny things. It’s a good look, if I do say so myself! Some might call my fashion show strut up and down the halls awkward. I say it’s essential to appreciate the look.
Recently, I felt that my outfit needed a splash of color, so I created a fancy paper clip necklace. I thought it looked AWE-SOME. It was only later as the clips kept getting caught in my hair that I realized it was a bit awkward.
Occasionally, I get a little crazy when writing out reminder notes. They tend to end up everywhere…but that’s not awkward at all, right? At least I don’t forget things!
I kinda have a thing for bubble wrap. It just might be my favorite office supply. It’s possible that the way I show my affection makes others feel awkward…
Ok, I’ll admit that making faces in our team meeting when the agenda kept going and going might have been a bit awkward, or at the very least, immature. In the future, I’ll try to refrain from the faces. I can’t promise I won’t roll my eyes on occasion, though.
