Just because your office is freezing doesn’t mean you have to!
Staying warm is an important part of being healthy and staying productive at the office. Plus, I hear that being able to feel your fingertips is usually a good thing. Check out these 8 ways to stay warm at the office!
Stay Warm at the Office
Warm Hands, Warm Heart
When it’s cold out, your extremities are often the first to get frosty. Take care of those fingertips by wearing a pair of gloves while you work. Thank goodness for spellcheck; those gloves might make your typing a bit more clunky.
Gloves not enough to fight off the winter chill? Add a pair of hand warmers to stay nice and toasty through your entire workday.
Layer it Up
Adding extra layers can help warm you up. Wear long underwear or leggings in combination with an extra sweater to keep your core warm. You can also double up on socks to warm those tootsies. If you are worried about looking bulky, head to a sporting goods store. They often have cold weather gear that won’t add bulk to your outfit.
Hello Hot Stuff
If your office will allow it, you might want to invest in a space heater. With it, you can create your own little bubble of warmth in your frozen tundra of an office. Don’t be surprised if your co-workers stop by to chat. It’s because you are so hot… or at least, your desk area is.
With a space heater, safety should always be considered. Keep the space heater at least 3 feet from any flammable objects, and be sure to plug it into a surge protector. Double check that your space heater is turned off before leaving each night, and enjoy the warmth while you can.
How About A Cuppa
Taking a coffee break isn’t just for the caffeine jolt any more. In your sub-zero office, it’s a cup full of warm bliss. Whether you prefer coffee, hot cocoa, or hot tea, you can warm up and chill out all at the same time.
From the Inside Out
There’s not much better than a warm meal on a cold day. Hot beverage break in the morning, hot soup in the afternoon. Yummo!
Everyone knows that exercise can warm up your system. So when you are feeling particularly frigid, do a quick job or chore around the office. You can even rack up some steps while you are at it. Bonus!
Every office has one -the person that knows where the thermostat is. And this person most likely enjoys the power trip that controlling said thermostat gives. It’s time to make new friends.
If your winning smile isn’t enough, perhaps you could gift them with a few delicious snacks. Candy in exchange for a few degrees of warmth on the thermostat. It’s totally worth it!
Work from Home
If all else fails, maybe you could request to work from home?! Set your laptop up near the fireplace, snuggle under a blanket, and revel in the warmth.
